Each year, an expert panel of faculty and industry advisors reviews proposals submitted from across the academic landscape. Finalists are invited to present to the panel before final selections are made.
Spark Berlin has been modeled and linked with a program which has been developed at Stanford University, where it is up and running since 2006.
As of winter 2013, 51 Stanford projects have completed the Spark cycle. The translation success rate, defined as Spark projects that are out-licensed and/or entering clinical testing, is 57 %.
